Notes
A classic fight between two representatives of the elements. It is worth noting that while Torch’s flame aura is hot enough to melt bullets, his flame is limited to the amount of oxygen present, and he has been put out with sufficient amounts of water before. However, he can re-ignite immediately after oxygen is present again. Also, while Bobby is classified as an Omega-level mutant, he has been shown to be unable to reach his highest level of power unassisted.
The Scenario
The scenario is a battlefield that is not enclosed and has sufficient oxygen and moisture in the air to supply both contestant’s powers. The fight takes place during the daytime, both parties are given 6 hours to prepare.
The Fight
The Torch and Iceman begin the fight by taunting each other and making rather ridiculous puns. Torch takes to the sky and begins circling around Iceman, throwing fireballs at him. Bobby evades the blasts easily, creating an ice slide on which he glides quickly out of harms way. Eventually Torch manages to knock Iceman off the slide, forcing him to retaliate. Bobby condenses the water vapour in the air above Johnny, causing it to rain and extinguish the Torch’s flame. Johnny falls back to the ground, but immediately regains his flame and blasts a stream of flaming plasma at Iceman.
Iceman is instantly evaporated. As Torch lets his flame die down, gloating over his assumed victory, he feels a cold tug in his chest. He turns quickly to see Iceman reforming from water vapor back into his ice form behind him. Iceman freezes the blood inside the Torch, causing him to fall unconscious. Iceman is victorious.
The Outcome
While fire may melt ice, Bobby proves that he is not limited to the more obvious nature of his powers. His power to control thermal energy proves greater than Torch’s ability to manipulate flame.
